The short version

Glimt collects nothing. Your videos stay in Photos, the seconds you choose stay in the app on your iPhone, and Glimt makes no network connections of its own. There’s no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Your photos and videos

Glimt asks to read your photo library so it can look through the day’s videos and Live Photos. It analyses them on the iPhone with Apple’s Vision and remembers only which video and which second you chose, plus a small thumbnail. Your videos aren’t copied, uploaded or shared.

iCloud Photos

If you use iCloud Photos and a video isn’t fully on the iPhone, Photos may download it from your own iCloud when Glimt needs it. That’s Apple’s service, between your iPhone and your iCloud account; Glimt itself sends nothing.

The photo of your child

If you add a photo of your child’s face to a project, Glimt keeps a small thumbnail and a numeric description of the face in the app, to compare with the faces in your videos. Both stay on the iPhone and are deleted with the project.

Camera and microphone

Glimt uses the camera and microphone only when you tap Film now. The clip is saved in Glimt’s own storage on the iPhone, not in Photos.

Saving films

To save a film, Glimt asks for permission to add to Photos. That permission only lets Glimt add the film; it can’t see anything else with it.

The evening reminder

The reminder is a notification scheduled on the iPhone itself. No server is involved.

Where it’s stored

Projects, the chosen seconds, thumbnails and clips filmed in Glimt are stored in the app on your iPhone and are included in your iPhone backup like other app data. Deleting a project, or the app, deletes them. The videos in Photos are never touched.

No analytics, no ads

Glimt contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and no third-party services. This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.
